Industry members from Poland were recently welcomed into the homes and barns of turkey producers in the USA. After key members of the US turkey industry visited Poland in the summer, the trip was a great opportunity to continue learning and sharing information between the groups.
The visitors from Poland consisted of processing plant professionals, commercial turkey growers, and veterinarians. While touring, they met with managers from Dakota Provisions as well as Carl and Sharlene Wittenburg of Protein Alliance. Antibiotic-free production was a key area of interest for the visitors, and the group was eager to learn best practices from the largest turkey-producing region in the world, the USA.
With antibiotic-free production, feed, water, and environment must be carefully managed. The group discussed their management techniques openly and looked carefully at the details that can take flock performance to the next level.
Along with visiting commercial operations, the hosts were happy to share an overview of the US turkey meat market. There was also lots of time to discuss common interests between producers, no matter their nationality: focus on family and a love of their work.
Both visitors and hosts found the experience to be very positive. With exposure to different perspectives and increased transparency, Hybrid Turkeys’ customers stand to gain a great deal in more knowledge and enhanced value in their operations.
