One of Canada’s largest independent, family owned Halal meat processors, Amir Quality Meats Inc., recently acquired a Wellington Poultry Ltd. facility and associated supply.
Based in Arthur, Ontario, Wellington Poultry is a provincially licensed processing facility that has been serving the Ontario specialty breeds and mainstream markets for 18 years.
“We are excited about the future of this industry,” said Sherry Aziz, chief financial officer at Amir Quality Meats. “We see lots of opportunities to continue to build strong relationships with the growers and grow the marketplace, providing Ontarians with continued access to chicken choices.”
Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO) released a comment welcoming the recent acquisition.
“Chicken Farmers of Ontario congratulates Amir Quality Meats on its acquisition of the Wellington Poultry Ltd.,” said Murray Opsteen, CFO chair. “Ontario chicken farmers and the chicken industry are committed to providing consumers with a variety of choices when it comes to healthy, safe, locally-grown premium Ontario chicken products.”
