The Western Fair District announcement November 17, 2020
Thank you to all those who have supported our plans for the 2021 National Poultry Show, from participating in our town hall to supporting our attendee survey that was recently released.
Today, we are announcing that the decision has been made to cancel Western Fair District’s 2021 Show Season in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and Government restrictions. The full release can be read here. This includes what would have been the 63rd National Poultry Show, presented in partnership with the Poultry Industry Council, and sponsored by Farm Credit Canada.
In lieu of a traditional event, we have been exploring unique opportunities to showcase our exhibitors and engage with producers. Based on the early results of our producer survey, and through discussion with our exhibitors, most would prefer to see an in-person event, however due to the ongoing health authority restrictions, we are unable to offer an in person “show” as we traditionally know.
Looking ahead: 2021 Opportunities
With that being said, we are looking at a few other experiences that would showcase our partners, exhibitors and sponsors in place of an in-person show. Some ideas being discussed include: professionally broadcast sessions, virtual competitions and video tours of past show exhibitors.
Companies with deferred payments:
By Friday of this week, we will send an email with an account statement to all companies with payments that had been deferred to the 2021 show, with two options:
- Full refund
- Option to hold the payment to 2022
We will ask that you get back to us by December 21st, 2020, as we will be issuing refund cheques in January 2021.
Thank you for your continued support. Western Fair District is committed to our agricultural mandate, and although we cannot present the regular premiere National Poultry Show you have come to expect from us, our team is committed to the longevity and continued excellence of the National Poultry Show for years to come.
