A poultry processor based in Georgia is recalling more than 62,000 pounds of cooked chicken products after discovering a labeling mistake that resulted in an undeclared allergen.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), Suzanna’s Kitchen of Suwanee, Georgia, initiated the recall after determining that certain chicken products containing soy were incorrectly labeled as items that do not include allergens. Soy is a known allergen and must be clearly declared on food packaging.

The recall involves approximately 62,550 pounds of fully cooked, bone-in, breaded chicken portions. The products were produced on Oct. 16 and distributed to restaurant locations across the country.

Affected items include 18-pound cases containing four packages of “Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Portions.” The cases can be identified by the code “P-1380 126237 B30851 23:11 K04,” which is printed on the side of the packaging. The boxes also display the USDA mark of inspection and the establishment number “P-1380.”

FSIS reported that no illnesses or allergic reactions linked to the recalled chicken have been confirmed at this time. The agency is advising restaurants and distributors to stop using the product and ensure it is properly disposed of or returned.
