Hendrix Genetics is strengthening its poultry breeding capabilities through a new investment in a pedigree facility in the Netherlands. The project reflects the company’s multi-species strategy and its long-term focus on developing high-performing, resilient genetics for both egg and meat production.
The new site will advance the Layers & Traditional Poultry Breeding Program, supporting continuous innovation within well-known brands such as Dekalb, ISA, Bovans, Hisex, Shaver, Babcock, Warren, and SASSO. Equipped with a modern hatchery, as well as state-of-the-art rearing and production houses, the facility has been designed to collect precise data for breeding improvements. A notable feature is the inclusion of real-time feed stations that allow close monitoring of individual feed intake, an important tool for improving efficiency and sustainability in egg production.
In addition to enhancing feed efficiency, the new facility will contribute to faster progress in critical areas such as egg production persistency, animal welfare, livability, and eggshell quality. These advancements are expected to support producers with stronger genetic lines while reinforcing a more resilient supply chain.
The expansion will also strengthen the company’s overall research and development efforts, helping deliver breeding solutions that adapt to the diverse housing systems and market demands seen worldwide. Integration of the new facility into Hendrix Genetics’ broader breeding and grandparent production program will occur in phases, with operations beginning in August 2025 and full capacity anticipated within six to eight months.
As a global leader in animal breeding, Hendrix Genetics operates in more than 25 countries with programs spanning poultry, turkeys, swine, salmon, trout, shrimp, and traditional poultry. The company continues to prioritize sustainability and innovation while providing advanced genetics to meet the evolving needs of producers and consumers alike.
