Livetec Systems launches Livestock Protect app to combat avian flu disruptions

As avian flu (HPAI) continues to disrupt the poultry industry, UK-based livestock protection provider Livetec Systems has introduced Livestock Protect, an app offering real-time data on the geographical spread of the virus.

The app is an advanced digital biosecurity tool, designed for easy deployment across the sector. According to Livetec’s co-founder and group technical director Julian Sparrey, Livestock Protect aims to strengthen the resilience of the poultry supply chain, which has been severely impacted by HPAI. “HPAI is not just a threat to individual farms, but to the entire supply chain, with disruptions affecting availability, prices and business operations at every level of the sector,” he said.

“Livestock Protect has been developed with these challenges in mind, offering integrators, packers and producers the tools they need to respond faster, manage risks more effectively, and help ensure continuity of supply.”

The app’s AI-powered mapping provides instant visibility of disease outbreaks, providing users with immediate visibility of disease threats and enabling poultry integrators, packers and producers to take proactive steps to protect flocks.

Sparrey continued: “Livestock Protect complements existing processes across businesses of all sizes, providing greater visibility, consistency and control.”

Livestock protect is available in three different packages, which can be suited to the size of the operation and is already being adopted by large-scale integrators. While initially focused on the poultry sector, the platform can be extended for use across other livestock sectors.
