The Poultry Science Association (PSA) is pleased to announce several key staffing changes that reflect the Association’s commitment to operational excellence, scientific leadership, and strategic growth. These include the addition of a new Conference Program Coordinator and the promotion of three valued team members to elevated leadership roles.

Maggie Kraft Joins PSA as Conference Program Coordinator

PSA welcomes Maggie Kraft as its new Conference Program Coordinator. Kraft will support the planning and execution of PSA’s scientific conferences, including the development of symposia, coordination of abstract review processes, and delivery of high-quality scientific programming.

A native of Bloomington, Illinois, Kraft is a recent graduate of Illinois State University with a degree in Interpersonal Communication. She brings to PSA a strong academic background and practical experience using systems and tools central to conference operations.

“We are thrilled to welcome Maggie to the PSA team,” said PSA Executive Director Andy Vance. “Her enthusiasm, strong communication skills, and ability to manage complex tasks will make her an asset to our conference planning and to the broader community we serve.”

Kraft shared her excitement for joining PSA: “I’m passionate about connecting people to ideas and doing work that supports the scientific community. I look forward to contributing to PSA’s mission and meeting members at the Annual Meeting in North Carolina.”

Promotions Reflect Organizational Growth and Excellence

PSA also announces the following staff promotions:

    – David Busboom has been promoted to Senior Managing Editor. With nearly a decade at PSA, Busboom has played a pivotal role in the growth of Poultry Science, helping to triple manuscript submissions over the past three years. Under his leadership, the journal has simultaneously reduced time to first decision by half, enhancing the author experience and supporting PSA’s publishing success.

    – Rebecca Smith has been promoted to Senior Manager of Conferences and Events. Smith has guided PSA’s growing portfolio of scientific meetings—including the Annual Meeting, Latin American Scientific Conference, and the newly launched Pacific Rim Scientific Conference and PSA Pathways Summit. Her leadership has resulted in resilient registration numbers and enhanced member value, even amid global challenges.

    – Sydney Carr has been promoted to Director of Operations. Since joining PSA as part of a succession plan for long-time Operations Director Jon Cole, Carr has taken on increasing responsibility in business operations and human resources. In her new role, she will continue to work with Cole over the next six months to document institutional knowledge, while helping lead initiatives in sponsor development, individual giving, project management, and program delivery.

“These promotions recognize the exceptional contributions of David, Rebecca, and Sydney,” Vance said. “Their leadership is helping PSA scale its impact and deliver on our mission with excellence. I’m proud of the team we’ve built and excited for what’s ahead.”

Together, these staffing changes strengthen PSA’s ability to serve its members, grow its global presence, and deliver world-class scientific programming.
