Samantha Haverkamp will continue her work with the Farm Products Council of Canada following her reappointment as a member for another three-year term beginning April 21, 2026. The announcement was made by the Honourable Heath MacDonald, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food.
Haverkamp is a hatching egg producer based on her family farm near Vanessa, Ontario, and brings a strong blend of practical farming experience and agricultural business knowledge to the role. She holds a diploma in horticulture from the University of Guelph, an honours degree in agriculture and a certificate in business. Over the years, she has also worked in the agriculture supply sector, purchasing grain and selling fertilizer, and gained experience in agricultural and commercial lending through her work with a financial institution.
Her leadership within the poultry sector is well established. Since 2022, she has served as chair of the Ontario Broiler Chicken Hatching Egg Producers Association and is a member of the Poultry Industry Council’s board of directors. These roles have given her a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing producers across the province and the country.
In announcing the reappointment, Minister MacDonald highlighted Haverkamp’s expertise and long-standing dedication to Canadian agriculture, noting that her experience continues to be a valuable asset to the council’s work in supporting supply management as well as agricultural promotion and research.
The Farm Products Council of Canada is the federal body responsible for overseeing the marketing agencies that operate within Canada’s supply management system for poultry and eggs, as well as the agencies focused on promotion and research. The council also advises the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food on matters related to these agencies under the Farm Products Agencies Act, helping ensure Canada’s agriculture sector remains efficient, competitive and well supported.
