Broiler producers in the United States continue to move toward higher production levels in 2025 compared to last year.
According to the USDA, nearly 248 million broiler-type eggs were placed in incubators recently. While that total was slightly lower than the previous week, it was still up 2% from the same time in 2024, with hatchability rates steady at just under 80%.
Chick placements into meat production reached 194.1 million, a marginal decline from the prior week but still 1% higher than a year ago. Overall, cumulative placements remain ahead of last year’s pace by the same margin.
The birds from these latest sets and placements are expected to begin reaching the market in early October. The growth trend reflects producers’ efforts to maintain competitive pricing against other protein sources while ensuring steady supply to meet demand.
