
A fatal workplace incident at a poultry facility in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley is under investigation by the province’s Department of Labour. The incident occurred overnight between Wednesday and Thursday at a site in Glenmont, and the worker later died as a result.
Authorities have not released details about what led to the incident, and the identity of the worker has not been made public. Information about the circumstances surrounding the event remains limited as the investigation continues.
The fatality involved an employee connected to Eden Valley Poultry. Company president and CEO Jeff Purcell confirmed the death and said the organization is grieving the loss. He noted that the company’s focus is on supporting the worker’s family, friends, and colleagues while fully cooperating with officials reviewing the situation. No further details have been shared out of respect for the family.
The Department of Labour has confirmed it is actively investigating but has not provided additional information at this time. Police were also called to the scene, and the Kings District RCMP indicated that criminal activity is not suspected in connection with the incident.
