Scott Technology has expanded its footprint in North America by introducing its automated poultry trussing system into the Canadian market. The move marks a significant step in modernizing poultry processing across the country, with Scott securing a multi-million-dollar contract with Maple Lodge Farms, one of Canada’s largest independently owned poultry processors.

As part of the agreement, Scott will design, build, and install two high-capacity trussing lines capable of handling 24 birds per minute at Maple Lodge’s Brampton facility. This development reflects a broader trend in Canadian food production—embracing automation to improve efficiency, product consistency, and worker safety.

Scott’s Poultry Trusser system automates the previously manual and repetitive task of tying chicken legs and wings. This process is vital to ensuring uniform cooking and presentation, especially in high-volume operations producing rotisserie and whole birds. By automating trussing, processors can reduce the risk of repetitive strain injuries among workers and minimize labor dependency, a key concern in the poultry industry.

This move into Canada builds on Scott’s earlier deployments of the Poultry Trusser system with leading U.S. poultry companies, such as Pilgrim’s Pride and Costco’s Lincoln Premium Poultry. Now, by extending its reach into the Canadian market, Scott reinforces its role in supporting processors seeking operational excellence through advanced automation.

With Canada’s poultry industry playing a vital role in the national food supply and consumer market, the integration of automated solutions like Scott’s trusser represents a shift toward smarter, safer, and more sustainable production practices. As processors look to meet rising consumer demand while managing workforce challenges, investments in automation are becoming essential to maintaining industry competitiveness.

Scott Technology’s entry into Canada’s poultry sector underscores the growing demand for innovative solutions that can streamline operations while upholding food quality and workplace safety—key priorities for producers like Maple Lodge Farms.
