A new collaboration between the International Poultry Welfare Alliance and the International Egg Foundation is set to improve poultry welfare education and on-the-ground support for producers working in areas where nutrition and food security remain ongoing challenges. The partnership was introduced during the International Production & Processing Expo and is centered on bringing practical, science-backed welfare resources directly to the field.
Under a formal agreement, IPWA will share its Key Welfare Indicator Guides along with access to scientific knowledge and related tools developed by its members. These materials will be used by IEF in real production settings, where farmers, trainers and regional partners can test their usefulness and provide feedback. That input will help ensure the guidance reflects the realities of varied farming environments rather than remaining purely theoretical.
IEF’s role will focus on applying these welfare resources in communities where improving egg production can have a meaningful impact on local nutrition. By gathering insights from producers and educators working in these settings, the foundation aims to bridge the gap between scientific guidance and day-to-day farming conditions.
For IPWA, the exchange of field-based feedback offers an opportunity to continuously refine and adapt its welfare guidance so it remains relevant for producers across different regions and production systems. The organization sees this as a way to strengthen its global resources by learning from the places where the tools are being put to practical use.
Ongoing communication between the two groups will allow them to evaluate how the materials perform in real-world conditions and identify ways to tailor welfare education and scientific resources for broader global benefit.
