Cargill Reaches $32.5 Million Settlement in Turkey Price-Fixing Case

Cargill has agreed to a $32.5 million settlement with a group of turkey buyers, resolving allegations that it collaborated with other companies to fix turkey prices, according to federal court documents.

If approved, this agreement will raise the total recovery for the Direct Purchaser Plaintiffs (DPPs) Class to $37.1 million, following an earlier $4.6 million settlement with Tyson Foods in 2021.

Beyond the financial terms, Cargill has committed to providing assistance to the DPPs as they continue pursuing claims against other defendants that have not settled.

The plaintiffs have also requested interim payments to cover attorneys’ fees, case expenses, and service awards.

A fairness hearing will be held to finalize the settlement and review these additional requests. Once approved, all claims against Cargill will be dismissed, clearing the way for the distribution of settlement funds.
