Case Farms has announced the acquisition of Foster Farms’ poultry complex in Farmerville, Louisiana, expanding its operations into a key Southern production region.

The transaction includes Foster Farms’ fresh chicken, prepared foods, and protein conversion facilities in Farmerville, along with a feed mill in Arcadia and a hatchery in Athens.

A Strategic Shift for Both Companies

Foster Farms stated that the divestiture supports its strategy to sharpen its focus on branded retail and foodservice channels. Meanwhile, Case Farms said the purchase represents a major step forward in its long-term growth plan.

“We are proud to welcome the well-respected Foster Farms team members and growers to the Case Farms family,” said Tom Shelton, founder and chairman of Case Farms.

Foster Farms CEO Jayson Penn also expressed appreciation for the Farmerville workforce and emphasized the company’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its core consumer business.

Expanding Case Farms’ Footprint

Founded in 1986, Case Farms now processes 5.3 million birds weekly and produces more than 1.7 billion pounds of poultry products annually. With existing operations in Ohio and North Carolina, this acquisition extends its production capacity and establishes a stronger presence in Louisiana.

Industry Implications

The deal highlights shifting strategies in the U.S. poultry sector:

  • Foster Farms is narrowing its scope toward branded consumer markets.

  • Case Farms continues to expand scale and geographic reach, positioning itself for stronger supply-chain capacity and customer growth.
