Perdue Foods LLC has announced plans to permanently eliminate 293 positions at its poultry processing plant in Washington, Indiana, citing the shutdown of the site’s second shift.

The company detailed the move in a notice filed with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. Employees are expected to finish their final day on October 10, with their official separation date set for November 2, 2025.

Perdue confirmed that affected workers, who are not part of a union, will not be able to transfer or bump into jobs at other company plants.

Headquartered in Salisbury, Maryland, Perdue remains a family-owned business and a major force in U.S. agriculture, reporting nearly $9.83 billion in annual sales. While the company produces multiple types of protein, it is best known as the nation’s leading fresh chicken brand.
