Packers Sanitation Services Inc. (PSSI) has officially rebranded as Fortrex, reflecting a renewed commitment to safety, integrity, and customer focus, the company announced.
The rebrand also includes Safe Foods, a division of PSSI Food Safety Solutions, which will now operate under the Fortrex name. According to the company, the new identity emphasizes its innovative practices and skilled workforce, particularly in the food processing sectors. Fortrex provides sanitation services to poultry, pork, beef, seafood, and other food processing facilities across North America.
“Our refreshed identity is more than just a new look—it’s a bold step forward that better reflects our evolution and dedication to consumer safety and service excellence,” said CEO Tim Mulhere.
A significant aspect of the rebranding is the new Fortrex logo, featuring an “X” to symbolize the elimination of contaminants—a direct nod to the company’s focus on food safety and biosecurity.
The company’s relocation to Atlanta—a hub for the poultry industry—further highlights its dedication to serving the poultry sector. Fortrex says the move enhances its ability to connect with customers and attract top talent, reinforcing its commitment to the industry’s evolving needs.
Fortrex’s transformation follows a challenging period for the company. In 2022, a U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) investigation found PSSI had employed at least 102 minors aged 13-17. The revelations led to contract terminations by major meat packers and the loss of 175 jobs at a JBS facility in Greeley, Colorado. Since then, Fortrex has hired a new CEO and its first chief compliance officer to ensure stricter oversight and compliance with labor regulations.
The rebranding marks a new chapter for Fortrex, with the company striving to rebuild trust and demonstrate its commitment to innovation, safety, and ethical practices in the poultry industry and beyond.
