Pennsylvania Opens Grant Program to Support Small Meat and Poultry Processors

Very small meat and poultry processors in Pennsylvania now have an opportunity to access financial support as the state begins accepting applications for its Very Small Meat and Poultry Processor Reimbursement Grant. The application window is open until May 8 at 5 p.m.

The program is designed to help businesses either launch new operations or expand existing ones by reimbursing a range of eligible expenses. This includes costs tied to securing a federal grant of inspection through the Food Safety and Inspection Service, which is required for companies that want to sell products across state lines.

Each applicant can receive up to $100,000 in funding, offering meaningful support for smaller processors looking to grow within the industry. State officials say the initiative aims to strengthen the local food supply chain while making it easier for small-scale operators to enter the market or scale up production.

Applications must be completed online using the Electronic Single Application system, managed by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
